YMCA Code of Conduct
We're dedicated to providing a positive place.
Our Y is dedicated to providing a positive, family-oriented environment for all who utilize our programs and facilities. Members, program participants and guests are expected to be safe and appropriate in their behavior, and to treat others with dignity and respect. To ensure that all who use or visit the YMCA of Greenville & Hunt County have a safe and enjoyable experience, members and guests must adhere to the following standards at all times.
Tobacco, Drug and Alcohol-Free Building
Members, participants and guests are not permitted to possess, accept, distribute, engage in or be under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance while on the premises of the YMCA or while participating in any Y-sponsored activity. Chewing tobacco, smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages are not permitted on Y property.
Abusive and/or Threatening Behavior
Behavior that could be considered abusive, threatening, harassing or stalking is not permitted on YMCA property. Law enforcement will be notified in such an event.
Photography and Video
No photos or videos of any type—including camera phones—are to be taken in locker rooms, pools or anywhere on the Y premises without the consent of the YMCA management.
Cell Phone Use
Please use cell phones in a manner that is courteous to others.
No soliciting of any kind is permitted in or on Y property without the permission of the YMCA management. This includes—but is not limited to—the sale of merchandise, distribution of literature, etc.
Swearing, Abusive or Foul Language
In keeping with the Mission Statement of the YMCA, we ask that members refrain from using profanity or using abusive language. Respect for the rights and sensitivities of others is an important element of maintaining a positive atmosphere at the Y.
Anyone caught stealing in or on Y property will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Weapons and Dangerous Objects
No one is permitted to bring onto the premises or have in their possession while engaging in any Y activity: any firearm, stun gun, knife or any other dangerous object or substance that may be used to harm another person.
Miscellaneous Rules and Regulations
Children under the age of 12 years will remain with their parents or guardians at all times unless in a class of the Child Watch Center.
Members 17 years and older are permitted to use all of the strength and cardio equipment in the Health & Wellness Center. Members 14 to 16 years of age may use the equipment only after completing a Y Teen Strength Program.
Please help us maintain the quality of our facility. Report any vandalism or broken equipment to the staff in that program area.
The YMCA of Greenville & Hunt County is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged property.
Each person must supply his/her own lock and towel. Lockers are used on a daily basis and all items must be removed each day. Please keep your belongings locked at all times.
Food and drink are allowed in the Lobby area only.
Shirt and shoes are required in our facility. Appropriate athletic attire should be worn in exercise areas. Only athletic shoes are permitted on the track and in the gymnasiums; these shoes should not be used for normal street wear.
A membership card is only to be used by a member. Allowing another person to use your card will result in termination of membership without refund.
Notices may not be posted in the Y without approval from YMCA management.
